Your adventure, your way
Our Explorer Unit is for young people aged 14 to 18. Explorers have a real say in what they do, and plenty of chances to lead.
Explorers help shape their own programme, take on bigger trips and expeditions, and can work towards Scouting’s top awards. Many also volunteer as Young Leaders with the younger sections.
What Explorers get up to
- Planning their own programme and trips
- Expeditions and adventurous activities
- Working towards Scouting’s top awards
- Volunteering as Young Leaders

After Explorers
Explorers runs until 18. After that, there’s still a place in Scouting as an adult volunteer, helping the next generation have adventures of their own.

Our centenary year
2026 is 1st Hazel Grove’s centenary year. To mark it, each section planned a special camp or trip; for Explorers, interrailing across Europe.
