Support Our Group

1st Hazel Grove is run entirely by volunteers. Whether you can give an hour a week or help behind the scenes, we'd love to have you on our team.

It takes a village to run a scout group. Behind every camp, badge night, and bonfire is a team of dedicated volunteers giving their time so that young people in Hazel Grove can experience adventure, learn new skills, and grow in confidence. There are many ways to get involved — and you don't need any previous scouting experience.

Section Leaders & Assistants

Our leaders plan and run the weekly meetings, camps, and trips that make scouting so special. You'll work as part of a team to deliver a fun and varied programme — from games and crafts to hikes and campfires. Full training and support is provided by the Scouts, and you'll gain nationally recognised qualifications along the way.

If you're not ready to commit to every week, occasional helpers are always welcome too. Even one evening a month makes a real difference.

Skills Instructors

Got a skill or hobby you could share? We're always looking for people to come along and run a session on something they're passionate about. Whether it's first aid, cooking, coding, photography, bushcraft, music, or anything else — our young people love learning from real enthusiasts.

This can be a one-off visit or a regular slot — whatever suits you.

Administration & Organisation

Prefer to help behind the scenes? There's plenty to do. Our group needs help with things like managing membership records, coordinating communications, handling Gift Aid claims, organising events, and keeping our policies and records up to date.

Many of these roles can be done from home in your own time — perfect if your schedule doesn't allow regular evening commitments.

Fundraising

Fundraising helps us keep scouting affordable for every family and fund the equipment, camps, and adventures that our young people love. Whether it's organising a cake sale, helping at a jumble sale, applying for grants, or coming up with new ideas — every bit of help makes a huge impact.

You can also support us financially through our donate page.

Practical Help

Sometimes we just need an extra pair of hands. Helping transport equipment to camp, lending a van for a weekend, doing odd jobs and maintenance, or helping set up for events — if you're handy and have a bit of time to spare, we'd be grateful for the help.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering with scouts is genuinely rewarding. You'll be part of a friendly, welcoming team, pick up new skills, and see first-hand the difference you make to young people's lives. Many of our volunteers say it's the best thing they do all week.
