Volunteer with us
1st Hazel Grove is run entirely by volunteers. You don't need to give every week and no experience is necessary: an hour here and there makes a real difference.
Lots of people make 1st Hazel Grove happen
Behind every camp, badge night and campfire is a team of volunteers giving their time so that young people in Hazel Grove can enjoy adventure, learn new skills and grow in confidence. There are lots of ways to get involved, and you don't need any previous Scouting experience.

You don't need to give every week
Even one evening a month helps. Some of our roles can be done from home, in your own time.
No experience necessary
Full training and support are provided, so you won't be doing it on your own.

Section leaders & assistants
Our leaders plan and run the weekly meetings, camps and trips that make Scouting so special. You'll work as part of a team to deliver a fun and varied programme, from games and crafts to hikes and campfires.
Full training and support are provided by the Scouts, and you'll gain nationally recognised qualifications along the way.
Occasional helpers
Even one evening a month
Not ready to commit to every week? Occasional helpers are always welcome. Lending a hand at a meeting now and then makes a real difference to our leaders and young people.
Skills instructors
One-off or regular
Got a skill or hobby you could share? Come along and run a session on something you love, whether it's first aid, cooking, coding, photography, bushcraft, music or anything else. Our young people love learning from real enthusiasts.
Behind the scenes
Often from home
Prefer to help behind the scenes? There's plenty to do: managing membership records, coordinating communications, handling Gift Aid claims, organising events and keeping our policies and records up to date.
Many of these jobs can be done from home in your own time, which is ideal if you can't manage regular evenings.
Fundraising
Fundraising helps us keep Scouting affordable for every family and pays for the equipment, camps and adventures our young people love. Organise a cake sale, help at a jumble sale, apply for grants or bring your own ideas.

Practical help
When you have time to spare
Sometimes we just need an extra pair of hands: transporting equipment to camp, lending a van for a weekend, odd jobs and maintenance, or setting up for events.
Parents and carers are welcome too
If your child is already a member, you'd be very welcome to help, whether that's the odd evening, a trip or something behind the scenes. Have a word with your section leader or send us a message.

Step 2: We'll chat about what suits you
We'll talk about how much time you have, what you enjoy and where you'd fit in.
Step 3: Checks and training
Like every Scout volunteer, you'll go through the usual safety checks and some introductory training, which we'll help you with.
