About the weekend

Family Camp was all about giving young people and their families the chance to enjoy the fun, activities and community spirit of 1st Hazel Grove, just in a camping setting. It was a little different from our usual Scout camps: children needed to come along with their parent, guardian or another nominated adult, and remained the responsibility of their parent or guardian throughout the weekend.

Saturday night was planned as the highlight of the weekend, with the evening meal and campfire, and families were invited to dress up on a 100 years theme.

Keeping everyone safe

All leaders and helpers from the Scout Group, and any activity staff hired for the event, were DBS-checked. They could be identified by a gold and black 1st Hazel Grove neckerchief or a 1HG T-shirt, and families were asked to speak to any of them with problems or questions, or if they needed help.

Other adults camping elsewhere on the site were not part of our camp and may not have been DBS-checked.
